Trading in Elephants is unconscionable and fails to recognise the sheer intelligence, sentience and complex social structures of Elephants. 

A vast majority of African countries have tried to obtain the highest level of protection for the elephants whilst others trade elephants for a pittance with countries abroad who are benefitting financially.  

Instead of inviting these countries to Africa which would create employment for many, these countries and a few wildlife traders have only considered the short term benefits. 

Disappointingly once again the EU and the USA did not support the African countries who want the highest protection for the elephants at CITES Standing Committee on the 9th of March.
