There are thousands of workers around the world who use Jabber for Mac as their primary softphone.  In order for a user to effectively use a headset with a softphone, they need to be able to initiate call control from the headset itself (mute/unmute, answer calls, turn up volume, etc). 

By releasing the Accessory Manager API for Jabber for Mac, Cisco will enable companies such as Jabra and Plantronics to enable this functionality for their headsets.
