Remove Symbols of Fascism from Cincinnati NOW

The City of Cincinnati hosts two overt symbols of fascism in its public spaces. We demand not only the removal, but also the destruction, of two statues from our public spaces. Not only do these statues not represent the spirit of our city, they are not representative of our values as Americans.
The two statues are:
1) The statue of the Roman "hero" Cincinnatus. Cincinnatus was famous for his opposition of the plebeians (or commoners) in Rome and is depicted handing down the fasces, a well-known symbol of Nazis and Fascists.
2) The statue of the Capitoline Wolf on display in Eden Park. This statue depicts the myth of Romulus and Remus being nursed by a wolf. This statue was given to the city by none other than fascist dictator Benito Mussolini.
In light of the events of Aug. 12, in Charlottesville, VA, where Nazis were allowed by the city government, police, VA state police, and National Guard to openly attack peaceful protesters in "defense" of a statue of Robert E. Lee, it is critical that Cincinnati follow in the footsteps of cities around the nation and remove and destroy the statues.
