Certain media outlets and some within the church are now coming out in strong defence of Jarel Robinson-Brown, stating his comments were taken out of context.
The real context looked clear to a majority of people, especially if you look at his past inflammatory comments such as ‘ignorant white Christian men’ and diverting floodwater from Jamaica to Britain instead. This supposed man of god is inflammatory and divisive.
His history of inflammatory outbursts are not in keeping with the ethos of the church. Regardless his supporters appear to have emboldened him, with his Twitter now reinstated.
They are painting him as the victim, but if you have inflammatory outbursts when in a position that requires to lead with love and unity, expect a reaction.
Jarel has suffered racist and homophobic abuse and death threats. This in turn is not acceptable. However he does deserve to be challenged and encouraged to resign, let alone the church doing the right thing and removing him. The question is, will they?
