On September 3, 2020, CCSD announced their phase in model for a f2f learning option. It is as follows:
Phase One: Will see all pre-k through fifth-grade students AND pre-k through 12th-grade special education low incidence students having the option to return for full-day instruction. ASP will also resume for students in face-to-face classrooms on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Phase one will begin on October 5, 2020.
Phase Two: Will see all sixth through eighth-grade students having the option to return for full-day instruction. Phase two is tentatively scheduled to begin on October 19, 2020.
Phase Three: Will see all ninth through twelfth-grade students having the option to return for full-day instruction. Phase three is tentatively scheduled to begin on November 5, 2020. This is a Thursday start date because of the election.
The most vulnerable students, special needs, and elementary aged children, have all returned successfully to the classrooms as of yesterday, 10/05/2020. With declining cases here in Cobb County, Phases 2 and 3 should have no obstacles for implementation.
Thanks to everyone who signed, shared, and contributed to this petition. Our goal was 10,000 signatures or the option to return f2f reinstated, whichever happened first. With just a few hundred shy of 10,000 at the 9/3/20 announcement, we are declaring victory!
