Below, is a Facebook post made by Cobb County School Board Member, Jaha Howard, on his own FB page this evening, 7/28, in regards to the planned protest this Saturday.  Please read:

"A few thoughts for some of our “You better open schools or else” parents:
1. If you see a pediatric dentist show up Saturday in scrubs and PPE, it’s me. I’ll be there to protest your protest. Also, I fixed your flyer. You’re welcome.
2. Please keep that same energy when we’re screaming for change against systemic racism and against educational inequity. Please keep that same energy to help ensure our most vulnerable families are able to endure this pandemic. Please keep that same energy and support our educators who are working so hard for our children in these uncertain times.
3. We all want in-person instruction, especially me. I have three elementary children that I love dearly but desperately need to get out of our house and in somebody’s school ASAP! When it’s safe for them and their teachers, they’ll be the first ones at the door when it opens.
4. COVID IS REAL. I had it. My wife had it. My kids had it. Cobb County is currently in high spread. Test sites are overwhelmed. Labs are backed up. Georgia is breaking infection records. Hospital ICU capacity is limited. Healthcare workers are stressed out. Please take it seriously and wear a mask.
5. Yes! Use your voice and organize! But consider directing your frustration toward our national and state leaders who completely DROPPED THE BALL. Like it or not, we are the ones left to fix this...together."
