To get Selby railway station accessible lifts As public demmand it by 2019
0 have signed. Let’s get to 1,000!
We need accessbile lifts now at Selby railway station. We have cross by a barrow crossing if you are disabled or elderly in mobility scooter or wheelchair or as mother or dad with a young child in push chair you must book or turn up at least 30 minutes or wait until line is clear and being escourted by staff as the gates to barrow crossing are locked and the staff finish at 8 at night in booking office. If you arrive on platform 2 from hull after booking office is closed you have to travel and change at Leeds station where their lifts to catch a train back to Selby land right side on platform 1 you cannot use platform 3 after 8pm either as no staff on station. We have a footbridge that has been their years with staircase that crumbling and getting dangerous always in need of repair. Also in morning staff are having to leave the booking office to escourt people across the barrow crossing it's been bought to your attention but don,t see a town and district that has grown and Selby has become more and more busy station it's foot fall has risen and more and more trains coming
Selby residents are calling for the installation of a lift at the train station.
Signs are going to be put up at the station saying that only disabled passengers who book ahead will be able to cross the lines.
This help service must be booked at least a day ahead and passengers must arrive sufficiently early to be escorted across the track well before the train arrives because the gate to the foot crossing is controlled by the signals.
In the past, staff have been sympathetic and allowed other rail users to cross if they have push chairs and luggage.
But due to recent changes to timetables and additional trains has meant there's not enough time to cross safely.
Residents are now calling for a lift to be put in instead.
