Make yogurt containers recyclable--change to #2 plastic

Make yogurt containers recyclable--change to #2 plastic

The Issue

Chobani uses #5 plastic containers (polypropylene) for its yogurt, but most recycling programs do not accept #5s. In fact, only about 3% of #5 containers are recycled in the US. We urge Chobani to use #2 yogurt tubs which are recyclable everywhere. Even if your town collects #5 plastic in "single stream" recycling, chances are it is separated out and put into landfill. Chobani has been a leader in many excellent initiatives, including environmental ones, and has become  a major influence in the industry. Changing to recyclable #2 yogurt containers can reduce the mountains of plastic getting burned or put into landfills. Chobani can lead the way with other companies in the yogurt and dairy industry. This has become an even bigger problem recently, since China is no longer accepting U.S. recycling waste.
