Essex Police makes arrest for animal cruelty

The Essex Police Department (EPD) reported Monday that it made an arrest the day before for actions taken against an animal.

EPD said it received information at 12:57 p.m. May 2 which indicated that a cat had been bludgeoned to death by a female in an Essex residence. It’s reported that police investigation found that Brittany Barber, 28, of Essex, had become angry with the cat and killed it with a blunt object.

 
Barber was reportedly issued a flash citation to appear in court May 4 to answer to the charge of aggravated animal cruelty.
