Neighbors,
I wanted to share a quick update on the Discovery School issue—and an important reminder.
We are making progress.
Because of your outreach, attendance, and persistence, City Council is now actively engaged and exploring a path forward. That is a direct result of this community speaking up.
Tonight matters.
There is a City Council meeting at 6:00 PM, and continued turnout is critical.
If you’re able to attend, please do. You don’t need to speak, but your presence alone reinforces that this issue is not going away.
We are not across the finish line.
This is the moment where momentum either continues or fades. Council needs to keep hearing from us, both in person and directly.
Here’s how you can help right now (2 minutes):
- Contact Mayor & City Council:
https://www.jacksonvillebeach.org/FormCenter/Mayor-City-Council-9/Contact-Mayor-City-Council-69 - Use this template (or write your own):
https://docs.google.com/document/d/13_uN8Acbr7WkXN9jXMG6xofxr6gP0_0K/edit?usp=drivesdk&ouid=109889994247119556136&rtpof=true&sd=true
What we’re asking for is simple:
- Pause construction
- Require Planning Commission review
- Enforce the existing conditions
This is about safety, process, and accountability.
We’ve moved the needle but only because people stayed engaged. Let’s keep it going.
Hope to see you tonight.
Donnie
