Since our last update, we’ve been BUSY — and it’s paying off!
We’ve attended multiple meetings with the OCFS Deputy Commissioner, the NYS Empire State Development Corporation, senators, assemblymembers, representatives, and even news reporters. We’ve sent dozens of emails, submitted FOIL requests, and this week we’ll be meeting with the OCFS Commissioner right here in Western New York to discuss the budget and next steps.
And here’s the best part: We were largely SUCCESSFUL in our original asks — thanks to YOU!
Because of your signatures, shares, and voices, we’ve already seen major progress:
- Anonymous CPS calls are no longer allowed
- Unsubstantiated complaints are no longer public
- Self‑reports are no longer labeled as complaints
- OCFS now displays more quality indicators for families
- Compliance reports are fairer and less punitive
- These are real, tangible wins — proof that advocacy works.
🔥Keep the Momentum Going
Now we’re pushing for the next phase of reform:
- Equitable regulations statewide
- Recognition of CCAP‑accepting providers as state contractors/vendors
- Enrollment‑based, prospective payments to stabilize childcare businesses
- Reinvestment of KinderConnect funds into children, families, and educators
We have updated the petition information with this progress update and next target with detail as well.
We cannot wait anymore. We the families. We the children. We the early childcare educators. We the people. NEED CHANGE NOW!
