Vishwa Hindu Parishad cancels events, UP government says Ram Navami celebrations will continue

Thank you for signing this petition to cancel Ram Navami and Ram Mahotsav celebrations in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

I would like to update you on the latest developments on this issue:

• Vishwa Hindu Parishad has now issued a statement asking its members, including those in Bajrang Dal, to cancel Ramotsav gatherings.

   

• CM Yogi Adityanath has appealed to put on hold all religious, spiritual, cultural and social events till April 2.

These developments were possible due to our collective voice. We now need to ensure that the UP government takes concrete measures to enforce social distancing, which can be facilitated through means such as enforcing Sec 144 and encouraging a junta curfew in Ayodhya during the proposed celebrations. 

We still need the UP government to put these measures in place to make sure that the chain of transmission is broken. Let's share this petition widely to make sure that the authorities take note of this issue.
