Chattrodhar Mahato was a leader of a mass upheaval in West Bengal which could be turned into an exemplary model of 'participatory democracy'. Instead he has been put into life imprisonment. Shame to our rulers and 'justice'!

He was arrested in September 2009 by the then Left Front rulers under the draconian UAPA, framed with false charges. It was condemned by all democratic forces and the opposition too. But the then opposition party now coming to power seems to be following the same track of the Left Front.

Chattrodhar behind the bar implies a setback in the struggle of the toiling masses and adivasis against land grabbing, eviction, loot by the corporates and ruining of our natural resources.

The historic Lalgarh movement was an experiment in direct democracy which could have strengthened the pillars of Justice, Equality and Fraternity! Therefore, we demand withdrawal of all false charges and unconditional release of Chattrodhar Mahato and all others.
