Cheshire FA and Cheshire West and Chester Council have earmarked Knights Grange golf course as a preferred location for a 3,000 capacity Women's Football stadium and a 150 room hotel. Cheshire FA are working with Cheshire West and Chester council to bring this £70m "centre of excellence" to Knights Grange, even though most will not reap any benefit from this development.

This is a shocking plan to develop on one of the last known green spaces in Winsford.

The golf course, though currently unmanaged as such, is still used by avid golfers. It's ponds are used by local fishermen, the perimeter is used by dog walkers, children have the freedom to run and play here and the course is situated alongside the popular Whitegate Way. The golf course is also home to an abundance of wildlife including butterflies, wildfowl, fish, frogs and toads, rabbits, hedgehogs, foxes, birds of prey and countless others.

Knights Grange golf course also leads to a cricket club and pitch, an athletics track, football pitches and a playing field.

Winsford already has a football stadium and this new development will only add noise, congestion and air pollution to a town that doesn't have much to offer to it's residents.

Please don't let this beautiful place be torn up and turned into something that Winsford doesn't need. Please sign this petition and ask our council to invest in necessary infrastructure, like better shops and facilities in our town centre and more places for Winsford's residents to enjoy.
