Let Kevin Dawe stay in Canada

The Issue

Mr Kevin Dawe, citizen of the U.K. runs two businesses, one is a kennel which I, Nathan Barney, combat veteran of Afghanistan 08-09 volunteer at and the second is Valley Vape, a shop that sells e-juice and devices that deliver nicotine without the harm of combusting tobacco. Kevin is a respected member of the town of Petawawa and because he is being denied citizenship and his right to stay here, both businesses face the risk of being closed, his parents who are now too old to run the kennel are citizens of Canada and have operated the number one rated kennel in the area for over 9 years. We have regular clients that drive from Toronto to drop their dogs off....3+ hours drive away!! This is an indicator of the high level of care that is offered to animals in his care. Losing a member of our community like Kevin would be a huge loss. When service personnel are sent away on the exercise, it's Kevin's family business that cares for their K9 friends. I, Nathan B. suffer from PTSD and have come from a very dark place, and because of Kevin's friendship and his parents warm hearts, have come a long way, the kennel provides me with a comfort in my life, it is now being taken away from me and the rest of the community. This includes at least 3 employed positions at the kennel and 2 staff at the downtown Vape shop. The ramifications go further; not only is this going to have a serious effect on our essential civilian and service men and women's animal care service but through this we will lose a store that is supplied with stock from mostly canadian suppliers. The townships of Petawawa and Pembroke will lose a very valuable member of our community. The potential closure of these two business means the loss of jobs and revenue for the town and country and the most important loss is Kevin, his friendship and his strong desire to become part of this great country and community. Thank you.
