Give Menta his job back

Give Menta his job back
The Issue
On Tuesday, September 22, 2020, it became public news that Robert Menta was fired from his Cherry Hill High school East job as a security guard. He worked at Cherry Hill High School East for 19 years and before that 25 years on the police force. Nearly a month ago (August 26) Mr.Menta created a post on Facebook relating to the Kenosha shooting with only facts that were taken out of context and as a result he was unjustly fired. As a U.S. citizen Menta is allowed to use his first amendment right to speak freely about whatever he decides. The one exception to this rule since he did work at a public school is the “balancing test” which means that ONLY if the views expressed can interfere with his ability to do his job or cause harm to a student or staff member then and only then can he be fired over a social media post. This means Mr.Menta was terminated without substantial reasoning and deserves to be reinstated.
Mr.Menta always kept the school safe for both the students and staff. Also, he treated every student and staff member fairly. Wherever Mr.Menta was needed there was no doubt that he would be there promptly. He worked long hours to protect the school during dances, sporting events, school shows, etc. During my four years at East, I saw Mr.Menta patrolling the halls, assisting in the communications office, directing traffic in the student parking lot in all weather conditions, and so much more.
It can be easily said that Mr.Menta came into work everyday vigilant ready to protect the school with integrity. Mr.Menta deserves and needs his job back. Please sign this petition to help give Menta his job back. If he does not we will be losing an indispensable individual who has affected many of our lives. He may have not been a teacher he taught numerous students about life. He was always someone we could talk to when we needed him the most. This is not the first time Cherry Hill East tried to wrongfully terminate an employee (Mr.Locke) so lets as a community protect Mr.Menta’s job as he did for us every day.
