For years Birstall has gone without a swimming pool. It was reported that a boiler issues caused Birstall Swimming Pool to close and it would cost £250,000 to replace.

Birstall is a large community very similar size in population to Syston and Mountsorrel which is about 12,000 residents. Both Syston and Mountsorrel have a successful leisure centres.

A leisure centre and swimming facilities are essential for health, wellbeing for all, everyone benefits from having a local leisure centre. I ask this council to look at either reopening Birstall Swimming Pool or opening leisure centre so that Birstall resident can benefit.
