Stroll and Roll PM met with CDOT this week to learn that The Plaza (between Parkwood and Central) will receive road diet improvements as soon as the Fall of 2018. The objective is to significantly reduce high speeding motorists cutting through our Historic Neighborhood. This is a Huge win for pedestrians, cyclists and residents of Plaza Midwood! The protected bike lane demonstration data showed that high speed motorists can be calmed without traffic congestion. The possible improvements could include better signage and road markings, complete road resurfacing, protected bike lanes, improved crosswalks, vertical buffers, and connectivity to the Blue Line and Greenway via the Parkwood initiative. This will be reviewed and backed by our neighborhood. The next step by CDOT is to propose changes to PMNA. Ultimately the community would be surveyed before final designs are put in motion.
