After my consultation with the colorectal surgeon today I had a few hard truths confirmed....
1. Because my mom had colorectal cancer at 52, I should have been getting regular colonoscopy screenings since I was 42... I'm 49.
2. My cancer tumor is now slightly bigger than a golf ball.. about 4.5cm and in a very bad place.
3. This tumor is approximately between 7 and 9 years old and started as a polyp which would have been detected in any of those preventative colonoscopies I should have had and never did.
The lesson to be learned here?
