Dear HCS Parents, Thank you for taking the time to sign the petition to add a layer of safety around our children. I have contacted Superintendent, Dr. Kathy Murphy and asked for a meeting. To date, I have not received a phone call back. I have also contacted the Board President to ask for email addresses for each board member in order for this petition to be sent to them. To date, I have not received any communication from the school board. This topic is very important to me because, in the case of my daughter, there was a criminal element involved and her life was in jeopardy. I needed help from the school and could not get any in a time of life threatening crisis. I do not want this to happen to another child or another parent. I am not a crusader and I am not well versed in how to make changes within our school system. However, communication has to be key and I am finding none. Signatures on this petition are vital. I need help securing more signatures so I am coming to each one of you that have signed and asking for you to reach out to one parent that you know in the HCS system and personally ask them to take the time to sign the petition TODAY. This can be done through a phone call, an email, or a text. What is most important is the signature. If you choose to ask through social media I have been advised that sharing the link is important but actually adding your own words and directly tagging someone will drive exposure and push the communication on news feeds. Will you please help with exposure for this petition? I am asking if you will take the time today to secure one signature in order to double the numbers. My goal is to get to 1000 signatures. My hope is that a 1000 parents asking for change is a large enough number for communication to open up about this topic with the school board. I sincerely appreciate any help you can give.
