Yesterday I received a call from a representative of the Royal Australian Mint informing me that there will be a print happening in September of a new $5 banknote, in this print will be some limited edition ‘Dollarydoo’ notes. These notes will not be put into circulation however there will be 1000 “5 Dollarydoo” notes available for purchase from the Royal Australian Mint from the 1st of September onwards. As the representative told me “We saw the massive amount of support that the petition had and we’re always looking for interesting limited edition currency to produce for collectors, so after the petition had started making news we decided to set the wheels in motion and make it happen”. I was told that the Mint felt as if the signatories to the petition should be the first to know as they were the ones that made this happen and that they would be making a formal announcement and revealing the design in the coming days. So all I have to say at this point really is, congratulations to everyone who signed this petition. Today we have taken a massive step toward making all of our dreams come true.
