Firstly thank you all for your continued support and signatures, we are just 14 signatures away from 1000! 

Today I have had an email from Councillors requesting a meeting with me on July 9th to discuss the petition. Previously I was told that we would need between 1200 to 2000 signatures in order for the petition to be presented at the next council meeting. So please keep sharing and getting signatures to add to our cause. 

I'd also like to ask all of you to write an email to me stating why you think the dog ban on Southwold beach should be brought in line with all but one other beaches in the UK to May 1st. Reasons can be personal to you, whether you are an older member of the community who struggles to walk to the further reaches of the beach where dogs are allowed year round? You might be a beach hut owner or user, who wishes to have their dogs on the beach near their hut? Or one of the many Southwold Sausage Dog walkers who would like to see dates through to May 1st where events can take place? Maybe you visit Southwold and rent holiday houses along the main stretch of the beach where you would like to be able to walk your dogs? This is definitely the case for my brother and family when they visit with their guide dog in training. Perhaps you have thoughts to share on the fact that aside from Southwold, only one other beach in the entire UK has a ban from April 1st instead of May 1st and why should Southwold be any different from the vast majority of other beaches for dog walkers? Do you come into Southwold to shop and walking your dogs is a part of that day out, as revenue from dog walkers who visit the town makes a big impact on the local economy. Any and all comments that may help our cause are welcome as something else to present to the councillors on July 9th when I meet with them.
