While Change.org provides a valuable service to the world, I believe this service would be greatly improved by implementing a system to fact check petitions.  There is currently a petition circulating to nominate a disgraced, disbarred, antivax "scientist" Andrew Wakefield for the Nobel Peace Prize.  This petition ignores the fact that Dr Wakefield falsified data, and that his fakery is responsible for a large number of unvaccinated children dying from preventable diseases.  While the Nobel Committee does not accept nominations from random people, it is still disgraceful to see Change.org allowing this sort of fact free petition to exist.
