Happy New Year supporters.
So recently I had a chat with a professor regarding the NACC and my idea of holding Public Hearings. And his opinion was if we change 'may' to 'must' so that all hearings be public, that it wasn't necessary. And look he's probably correct that there are probably other aspects of the NACC that are needed that will be more effective of producing the results I desire - political accountability and justice served.
We have a common interest in getting corruption and influence out of politics. Once the politicians know to be more afraid of the electorate, and not a morally bankrupted billionaire like Rupert Murdoch, the control of government agencies return to true independence, and policy decision making is returned to public servants from out-sourced, profit driven, corrupt, treason-est corporations like Price Waterhouse Coopers, Ernst and Young, Deloitte's and KPMG, power returns to back to democracy and away from autocracy.
I'm going to keep chasing this petition, because I believe the key to unlock change is the NACC, and my messaging, while it probably hides a lot of additional detail, is simple. It's something you can agree on, back and support. And it's just a more palatable context to absorb. It's a simple click-bait message.
If this petition ever gets to an influential state where I can present it formally to a politician, then I'll seek the guidance of my professor friend and paint in the details to ensure the NACC itself is fully transparent, independent and legally accountable.
But I also suspect deep in my bones, that it would take a change of governance, ie: not Labor or Liberal/National party ideology, and not one backed by billionaire's, capitalists, or neo-liberalists, to actually have the courage to implement.
Anyways until then, I'll keep fighting if you keep the conversation going. Cheers.
