Thank you everyone for your support of this petition. I was notified about an error that was reported in the 2010 Torch magazine referring to the death of a student in 1997. After doing extensive research on the incident, I discovered that the death was actually in 1995. In the 1995 Vindagua, a memorial article is listed for Philip Beale Jr., the 20-year-old student who died. The following quote from the Vindagua explains the incident: 

"He was about 4 feet from the edge of the road. He was crossing over to Medlin Hall when a car heading towards downtown Cleveland Beale's right leg. The impact made him roll almost to the middle of 14th St. He knew his leg was broken, but he was still joking around as usual. [...] Beale was released from the hospital on January 24th and returned home in Marietta, Georgia, withdrawing from school. While at home, he began to have some difficulties and was rushed back to the hospital. Doctors found that Beale had two blood clots in his lungs. Although they did emergency surgery to remove the two blood clots, Beale slipped into a coma and was placed on life support for almost a week. Then, on February 8th, [...] he was born into the family of God."
