The beginning of the year, took me to Hull to meet one of the City of Culture Team. This was the second meeting I've had, and this meeting was more of an informal chat to go over what we'd discussed previously and to provide me with updates. I also got to see the wonderful Made in Hull installation. Those who attended this, may have noticed that Changing Places facilities got a very prominent mention on the free maps that were given out, they had kindly agreed to keep an existing Changing Place facility open for longer hours over the weeks installation, and just as importantly advertised it. I'm told that this will happen again over the course of the year for key events . I'm also aware that plans are being checked for 2 venues to see if a Changing Place facility can be included in renovations/building works. At home, I have been sending emails to councils and hospital trusts and have had some promising emails in return. Cambridge, Aylesbury, Allerdale, Chesterfield and Braintree councils have told me that they will encourage developers to include Changing Place facilities in larger public buildings. Regarding hospitals, work is due to start soon to provide Changing Places facilities at Ipswich hospital, and also at the Heart of England NHS Trust. I've also had a couple of emails where Trusts have sent renovation plans to the Department of Health for approval, which also include Changing Places facilities. In addition to this, from emails, I have found at least 20 unregistered Changing Place facilities, details have been sent to the consortium to see if they can be registered and therefore appear on the Changing Places Toilet Map. Finally, the Womens and Equality Committee met for further evidence to be given to the Disability and the Built Environment Inquiry, I've provided a link, Changing Places toilets do get a mention particularly from 10.40 onwards. This petition, and its comments by you, are part of the written evidence submitted into this inquiry so I'll aim to keep you updated.
