Today the House of Lords published a report stating that the laws designed to protect people from disability discrimination are not working and that the Government needs to do more. Reference is made to disabled toilets not being provided in all suitable locations (although unfortunately no reference is made to Changing Places facilities), and advises that local authorities should do more by changing planning policy to make buildings more accessible. I was asked to comment on this and so I did an interview for one of my local radio stations at 7am this morning, luckily I was awake as my 2 year old had decided to wake me at 5.30, so I was a little sleep deprived but it seems to have gone well. If anybody wants to listen, click the link and my part starts at about 1 hour 10 minutes in, and refers mostly to Changing Places facilities and whether the Equality Act is fit for purpose. It is worth listening on as further interviews were conducted regarding the House of Lords report.
