Finally got an email from NHS England, I'd asked them to help make Changing Places toilets (with hoists and benches) compulsory in all NHS hospitals. This is a summary of their response, it's not good news...
Apparently all healthcare settings already make reasonable adjustments for disabled people to access disabled toilet facilities in all healthcare settings. NHS England is unable to meet your request in ensuring Changing Places toilets are compulsory in every hospital, GP surgery and healthcare setting in the UK.
If any of you have had issues with not being able to access appropriate toilet facilities at your GPs or local hospital then I urge you to contact NHS England (england.contactus@nhs.net) and your local Patient Advice Liason Service. This does not stop here, we need to fight on...
