The preparations for the construction of the canal were initiated without environmental impact assessment and any coordination with neighboring countries, which is a violation of the Helsinki Convention on the Protection of the Marine Environment of the Baltic Sea Area. The Vistula Spit forest is being cut for the canal construction and this has already caused severe damage to region's ecology which will affect not only people of Poland and Kaliningrad. For many long years people will keep facing the negative effect of these actions.
We ask everyone to take part and change the situation so together we can save the unique natural region and not allow to make it a sacrifice in the international political game. Help us to stop these vandals from quietly destroying the Vistula Spit region.
