As the COVID pandemic continues, we are starting to learn more about how community college students are affected. It is projected that enrollment for the Fall 2020 semester has decreased by at least 8% in California and some schools such are reporting between a 20-30% enrollment drop compared to enrollment last year.    

It is important to remember that community colleges serve as a gateway for many students who come from first-generation and low income backgrounds. We demand that Los Rios CCD address student success by giving students more resources to be successful. 

Opening Los Rios CCD campuses with social distancing would allow current students to be able to come to campus and complete coursework in a quiet environment. This resource will help combat college dropout rates and allow students the opportunity to stay on track towards meeting their academic goals.
