Recently, I shared my story on the Narrative Matters Podcast (listen here), where we discussed the real consequences of Japan’s broken parental leave system. Despite having one of the most generous paternity leave policies on paper, Japan remains one of the lowest in actual usage.

Why? Because too many fathers fear retaliation—just as I experienced.

This is why I continue to fight.

Workplaces should support families, not punish them. Parents shouldn’t have to choose between their job and their child.
