Cezve was a beloved, owned cat who was brutally tortured and killed by a man named Burak Alan in Turkey. Shocking footage captured him abusing Cezve for over a minute and a half — an act of deliberate, extended violence. His only explanation: he didn’t see the cat as an animal, but as a “personal enemy.” Without the video evidence, this horrific act could have easily gone unpunished.

Although the suspect was arrested, the legal consequences for animal cruelty in Turkey are still far too lenient. In many cases, abusers face only small fines or light sentences. This must change. Cezve’s case is not just an isolated incident — it's a horrifying example of a larger problem.
