Response from council

It took a few phone calls chasing this after after lodging our petition and request with council in late February. As a community we will need to push for a park pf any similar design such as a combination of saltwater park and sensory park . We want a safe environment with shading and accesibilty . Somewhere that we can go to free , and local a park without having to drive somewhere that pur toddlers can access the slide and climb the equipment without massive gapping sides with no panels that are hazardous for children under 5 to use. Stairs so they can climb the equipment. It is not sufficient that we are told toddlers and mum need to access community halls and playgroups so our kids have play equipment . We have every right to use outdoor venues and for them to cater a wider range of age. I discussed that we dont want another park 2ith 2 swings one slide with equipment suitable for no more then 2 or 3 kids of age 7 to use . I stated there are dozens of new families with children under 5 and that some of us do walks though essentially have no where to walk to and let our kids play because there is nothing suitable they can access. There is a need for a space that caters toddlers to 8yr olds. A sandpit ... a couple slides . A see saw. Large cubes and beads to spin .. climbing equipment with side panels. The space across from figtree estate on johns rd is still zoned for a park and can fit these sorts of equipment.... we want somewhere to walk ... saying it needs space for a car park for this to be installed is rubbish.
