Dear Friends, 

As many of you know, despite seven months of concern raised by residents, parents, students, teachers, librarians, the ACLU, The Education Law Center, NAACP, The Coalition Against Censorship, ALA, PSLA, PFLAG, and even a Texas Librarian who warned “most districts in Texas are NOT adopting that policy due to its many flaws”, the book ban policy passed 6-3 last Tuesday. The Approach? One-sided, divisive, and restrictive policies that are limiting our children's potential, hurting staff morale, angering parents, and threatening the future of our community schools.

The Result? Divided community, chaos, stressed out students, teachers and parents. 

It doesn’t have to be like this. The great majority of parents, teachers and students agree—education should expand what students learn, not limit it. Our schools must be affirming and supportive places to develop what is possible for our children, and where students and teachers can freely learn and engage in honest conversation unafraid of backlash. Our Response: We've formed a coalition to fight against anti-education policies in our schools. We want to see school districts where the best teachers are thrilled to work and every student is challenged and cherished.
