Kuşadası street dogs and cats and those unwanted by their owners are imprisoned in appalling conditions by a team of uncaring, lazy vets and workers, employed by Aydın Belediyesi. ARK (Animal Rescue Kusadasi) is a registered Turkish street animal charity.  Our volunteers do their best to alleviate the suffering of these animals by cleaning their living quarters, feeding with home-cooked food and making their lives as comfortable as possible, but their hard work is undone by workers paid to care for the animals. The three vets at the shelter have very limited resources, skills and compassion.

The conditions in which animals are imprisoned in Kuşadası animal shelter are appalling and a disgrace to Aydın. To send an animal to the shelter is to sentence it to death. The staff are lazy and uncaring, they spend most of their day drinking tea, the vets do little to treat sick and injured animals, food and bedding are inadequate, the animals have on occasion been unfed for days and are forced to sleep on wet bare concrete.  Please take action to ensure that the animal enclosures are kept clean, that there is always an adequate supply of clean, dry bedding, that there is always suitable, nutritious food available, that the staff employed are hard working and caring, that the vets have adequate resources and give appropriate and immediate treatment to all sick and injured animals.  Above all, please appoint a competent shelter manager. 

Make the shelter the best in Turkey and one that the people of Aydın can be proud of.
