Although my students have since graduated and moved on to high school, the current national Black Lives Matter Movement has encouraged me to reignite this petition.  Andrew Cuomo made Juneteenth an offcial state holiday. We should celebrate our own Black History by having a holiday dedicated to The Jerry Rescue -when Syracuse citizens rescued a man was going to be sent back to slavery. #BLM
