Suppports of No To Coal Plant arrive in Black during the April 17 Public Hearing

Last April 17, Sunday, a Public Hearing was arranged regarding the proposal to put up a Coal Power Plant in Sawang Calero. The Cebu City Sports Institute, where the Hearing was held, was filled with both supporters and oppositions. The pro-Coal came in white while the anti-Coal came in black. It was very evident that the people of Sawang Calero, Pasil and Duljo Fatima have united for the cause- to stop the Coal Plant from operating in the heart of Cebu City. In attendance where representatives from Ludo Power Corporation who insisted of their 'advanced technology' and its income value to the baranggays. Of course, the residents did not come empty handed. The doctors, engineers and laywers from the affected barangays came forward to speak out and refute the claims of the Corporation. No baranggay official came to attend the hearing. These officials signed for the approval of the said project. Notably, it can be observed that the alleged pro-Coal in white were busy signing the attendance sheets amidst the hearing. To that, the residents of Sawang Calero thanks everyone who signed this petition and helped in the awareness raising of the issue both online and on-ground. We may have triumphed but the battle has not ended. We will continue fighting the good fight for our children, our homes, our families and our environment. No to Coal Power Plant in Sawang Calero!
