A little update!
Yesterday Cary Matthews and Vicky Boyd-Power met with me in Fisherman’s Square,
Cary Matthews (Poulton Ward Councillor for MTC, Chair of MTC, Cabinet Member of LCC, Cabinet Member for Housing)
Victoria Boyd-Power (Councillor for Morecambe town council) Business owner (The Little Shop of Hobbies, Pedder Street)
I’m pleased to say the meeting went well and the wheels are in motion to request the gravel be removed, and a request for CCTV submitted to Lancaster City Council.
As it currently stands Fisherman’s Square is not directly under the control of Morecambe Town Council, so there are some challenges we may face. CCTV is understandably not something that can happen over night, and has not been promised. However it is NOT impossible! It just might take a little longer than say removing the gravel.
As mentioned above the square is under control of Lancaster City Council, so discussions and voting within the cabinet will need to happen before it can be taken to the next stage. I will say this though, coming away from the meeting, I felt like the residents voices had been heard and that we have the full support of Vicky and Cary. So to them we thank you!
The plan in the meantime -
We still need to reach at the very least 500 signatures for these issues to be brought to the table for discussion at a Lancaster City Council meeting. So to anyone supporting this petition, if you can please keep sharing and passing to local Morecambe residents, we would be forever grateful!!
I’m hopeful that LCC will take on board the severity of what we’re having to endure on a daily basis and do the right thing for our community and town.
Thanks again for the support!
Much love
