Save the Bridgeport Y

0 have signed. Let’s get to 200!

The Y cause is to strengthen community's by working side-by-side with its neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.  Therefore, in order for any Y especially the Bridgeport Y, to truly live up to its mission it should be open to all.

The Y is a nonprofit like no other. It is not a just  Boys and Girls Club (no disrespect to that fine institution)

That’s because in 10,000 neighborhoods across the nation, the Y has a presence and partnerships to not just promise, but deliver positive change.

The Y is community centered.

For nearly 160 years, it has been listening and responding to its communities. In Bridgeport the Y has been doing this since the 1880's

The Y brings people together.

The Bridgeport Y has connect people of all ages and backgrounds to bridge the gaps in community needs. Most Y members work and/or live in Bridgeport. Isn't the Bridgeport community deserving of such a place as much as surrounding communities.

The Y nurtures potential.

The Bridgeport Y has been a place where everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.

The Y has local presence and global reach.

The Bridgeport Y has built partnerships that have mobilized the local community and affected lasting, meaningful change. Having a Y in this community allows it to be connect it to other communities around the nation and world. It is a tremendous asset to have if want to be a first rate community.

Losing the Bridgeport Y will set back this community and only serve as a yet another example that Bridgeport somehow is different than anywhere else.

Please sign this petition and let the decision makers understand that you value its presence in Bridgeport and expect that a YMCA  should be a YMCA.  Please sign so we can let them know that you want the local Bridgeport Branch to :

To remain open for a period of time as it  implements preliminary measures that address financial situation.

To have time to truly explore alternatives to closing the facility to over 800 members.

On behalf of all members thank you for your support!!!!!
