Cancel Star Trek: Discovery And Greenlight A Post-Nemesis Series

Cancel Star Trek: Discovery And Greenlight A Post-Nemesis Series
The Issue
Star Trek fans have waited twelve years since the cancellation of Enterprise for a new series. Up until several months ago, CBS had remained completely silent in regards to questions about a new Star Trek series.
As to the excitement of many fans, on November 2, 2015, CBS announced a new Star Trek series was set to premiere in January 2017. At the 2016 San Diego Comic Con convention the title of the series was revealed as "Star Trek: Discovery" along with test footage of its flagship, the U.S.S Discovery. The ship and CGI in the test footage was met with overwhelmingly dissatisfied reactions from the fans.
At the 2016 Television Critics Association Panel, Bryan Fuller announced that Star Trek: Discovery would take place 10 years prior to Kirk's five year mission in The Original Series.
Gene Roddenberry's original vision of Star Trek was of a humanity who reached boldly into the future. A humanity who dared to go boldly where no one has gone before. CBS made the mistake of revisiting the past in Star Trek: Enterprise, which was thusly cancelled during its fifth season. They are making the same mistake in this new series, treading ground which has already been explored with long time fans already threatening to pirate the series.
It is my hope that with this petition we can convince CBS to cancel Discovery before it is fully produced and on the air so that we can make way for a new series. One that continues the Star Trek canon after the events of Deep Space Nine, Voyager, and Nemesis.
If you sign this petition, perhaps we can amass a great enough amount of fans who are truly passionate about Star Trek to convince CBS they're going in the wrong direction with this new series. On behalf of Trekkers everywhere, live long and prosper.
