Petition for Canadian TV Networks to broadcast The Tragically Hips final show.

Petition for Canadian TV Networks to broadcast The Tragically Hips final show.

The Issue

Introduction

The Tragically Hip unfortunately announced their final tour dates due to the announcement of Gord Downie having terminal brain cancer. They will be playing  11 shows in 10 Canadian cities with the final show being in their hometown of Kingston, Ontario. That final show will end decades of musical inspiration, entertainment, and defining Canadian culture.

Naturally, there is not enough venues or time to every do enough shows to please every fan in the world. So, I think its a no brainer for the one or all of the Canadian TV networks to broadcast the final show in Kingston to all of Canada. This would also be a chance for worldwide fans to see the The Hip play their final songs. Additionally you could also raise money for the Canadian Cancer society by running an online telethon.

Band History

The Tragically Hip, often referred to simply as The Hip, are a Canadian rock band from Kingston, Ontario, consisting of lead singer Gordon Downie, guitarist Paul Langlois, guitarist Rob Baker (known as Bobby Baker until 1994), bassist Gord Sinclair, and drummer Johnny Fay. Since their formation in 1984 they have released 12 studio albums, two live albums, 1 EP, and 54 singles. Nine of their albums have reached No. 1 in Canada. They have received numerous Canadian Music awards, including 14 Juno Awards.
