Update to Kings Landing Used As Benchmark for Height Post

And this is why the community remains so confused. In 2025, the King’s Landing hotel development was used in the application to determine the height allowance for the Causeway Cove Development under the Live Local Act. Now there are rumors  referencing the unused concrete silos behind Derektor as the height benchmark.

That position is highly questionable, especially given the differences between the documents presented in 2025 and what was described as “administratively approved.” The Fort Pierce silos are industrial storage structures, and the application documents do not show that they are an approved commercial or residential development that could serve as a height benchmark under the Live Local Act. The city materials and local reporting instead point to nearby development entitlements, such as King’s Landing, rather than industrial landmarks, as the relevant comparator.

In either case, the community should strongly challenge both interpretations. Community members have tried to contact the Planning Director and committee members for clarification but have not received a response.
