It has come to my attention that Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council are proposing introducing Car Parking Charges in many of the North Coast resorts including Portstewart, Portrush, Portballintrae, Ballintoy Harbour and Ballycastle Marina from Easter 2018 to end of September 2018 and seasonally thereafter.
At a time when retailers are finding it difficult enough to attract business to their shops, this action will undoubtedly add to their difficulties.
The North Coast is regarded as one of the major tourist resorts in Northern Ireland and introducing such charges will certainly send out the wrong message for visitors and residents alike.
People invest millions in this area annually and with the Golf Open coming in 2019, all-day car parking will add to the traffic chaos in the locality.
