According to the Center of Disease Control & Prevention, enough prescription pain killers were prescribed in 2010 to medicate every American around -the -clock for one month. The drugs are now prescribed to over 12 million Americans a year. With the reformulation of prescription opioids to make them harder to abuse and new regulations aimed at curbing prescribing the drugs, addicts are turning to heroin by the tens to thousands. Heroin and related opiate pain pills have killed more than 125,000 in the last ten years. Federal data indicates that another 75,000 plus pain pill abusers will turn to Heroin annually. Casey Wethington died in 2002 of a heroin overdose only six months after his parents were aware of his addiction health crisis. He was only 23 years old. This should not have happened but because of this his mother Charlotte Wethington has been able to get Casey's Law passed in Kentucky and several other states. This law should be passed in every state!! Thank you for your continued support. My goal is to get 500 signatures for Senator Nozzolio and with hope he may be able to help us get this law passed in NYS. Thank you for sharing this petition with your friends and friends of friends. Everyone knows someone going through this.
