I am not the only one who has felt the unjust firing of a business in what should be called a training grace period. Today I was let go after only 13 days working, and the first 5 I was offered no training because it was considered too busy. The second week I got minimal training of what my manager wanted to show me. If I asked too many questions she got mad, and if I did something without asking I was scolded like a child not re-trained. I had no way of knowing what the service techs schedules looked like, and I was left to read  minds and hope I could perform my job. Today would have been my third day of my third week. This morning I received a text saying

“Stephanie, Our HR gal is out right now due to surgery. Please wait to here from her before you come in to work. Thank you Krystina ” 

This afternoon I got a call from HR not  to set up a meeting to chat, but to let me know the company had gone in another direction. Never was I informed of what I did wrong. I understand Washington is an at will employee state, but shouldn’t I be given the fair chance to be trained and fill my position? This to me is crazy. I spent 4-5 years working in the healthcare industry and everyone is give a training period, and you cannot be let go during training. People make mistakes when your training, but it’s how they take correction that matters. 

I believe everyone should have 14-30 days of proper training where in employers cannot fire you. Once you are out of the that period employers should be required to give a valid reason for termination. We have too high too many unemployed and homeless to not give everyone an equal right to work.
