CNUK responded! Now we need your help
Jan 5, 2016 — It's been a very big day for our petition - thanks to all of your support, we’ve been featured by MTV, Pink News and LGBTPost, and got a response from Cartoon Network!
They've explained why shows might need more careful editing in the UK than in the US. However, they haven't addressed the main question we've asked in this petition: why only cut the gay bits, and leave all the sexual/romantic bits between male and female characters?
Yesterday the US broadcast a landmark episode of Steven Universe, 'The Answer', which unequivocally celebrates love between women. The response online has been ecstatic. CNUK will soon need to decide how to handle that episode.
So what we need now, dear supporters, is for as many of you as possible to send POLITE (and non-spoilery!) questions to CNUK on Twitter and/or Facebook. Please ask them why they've only censored romantic moments between two female characters, not between male and female characters - is one more appropriate for children than the other? If you like, ask them how they plan to handle 'The Answer' too.
And most importantly of all - please spread the word!
THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH!!
