Amid Amidi, resign from Cartoon Brew!
The Issue
For a long time, Amid Amidi has been using Cartoon Brew, a blog meant to celebrate the art of animation from all corners, into a sensationalist tabloid glorifying student and independent projects and demonizing mainstream fare that "the man" makes.
Many of his articles are biased and often insulting toward specific films and the artists who worked hard to create them. Some of his articles don't even have anything to do with animation; just stuff on how a Mickey Mouse plate is cheap pandering to animation fans, one-paragraph insults toward anything Disney creates (he hates Disney with every hippie bone in his body) and, more recently, taking an animation-related viral video out of context and warp it into a middle finger to the establishment.
Many people share my feelings about the site in its current state. We want a blog that celebrates the art if animation and the many artists, animators and technicians who create magic on the screen. So let's get to work and get this so-called animation crusader out.
