PLEASE SIGN UP for Sacramento Monthly Public Information Meeting
Let's Talk Louder than Billionaire's Money
When we as residents take actions, we make a difference!
When we are united, we have strength and power!
Dec 10th SJ Public Hearing has proved people’s strength and power again!
Without all 4528 online + 600 paper petition signers’ support and
volunteers’ efforts, it is impossible to win the tough battle with a
big company that can make money talk very loudly.
If thousands and millions of people stand up and talk, people can talk even louder than billionaire's money! The Sacramento public meeting is giving us tickets to the speech stage, please smartly accept the ticket and make your voice be heard!
Thank you so much for all residents who participated by signing the
petition (please go to www.tinyurl.com/stoplandfill. We need more signatures). Thank you very much for over 150 SJ planning commission meeting attendees who made wonderful,
heart-touching speeches. It was those stories you narrated that
softened the San Jose Planning commissioners’ hearts and turned the
situation around—the expansion is postponed. We won the first battle!
Today we need to turn our attention to the next meeting in Sacramento
on Dec 16th at 10am @1001 1 street, Sacramento CA 95814
Remember, Republic Services already got the expansion permit from the
city of San Jose, and if we do not go to the state government to tell
Calrecycle what our stances are, they will get their state level permit as
easy as two years ago when they got the local permit under the
circumstance of only two residents showing up at the public hearing to
oppose the expansion project.
Two years ago, we didn't go to the public hearing because we didn't get informed, so they just sneaked in and told decision makers that their garbage smells good; no one complained; their paid scientific testing and research results showed the offensive odor is from the bay itself; garbage needs a place and close to heavily populated areas to make garbage bill cheap (people should know that Stockton garbage dump is covered, and located in the countryside). Therefore they got local permit easily.
Two years after, thanks for social medias, we got informed. We can't afford not to speak up. We can't let the tragedy repeat and continue suffering for another 30 years.
Please be aware that, in current and past 80 years with 150 ft height, the odor may be limited in Milpitas, but with 245ft historic record height, the odor impact area will be enlarged magnificently. Your today 's ignorance or support for the expansion will push yourself and your children to join the odor victims' world!
It is a long drive to Sacramento, but it is worthy and will be rewarding.
We need to sacrifice some to show our determination and commitment.
We need to have a big number of people show up and speak to be convincing.
No one can represent you but yourself. Please arrange your time to go. Making money, you can do it every day but the chance to change your and your children's quality of life does not exist every day!
Let’s go to Sacramento and talk louder than billionaire's money!
