For the past 6 days, Nick Zedd, a New York City artist and filmmaker and his family including his 6 year old son as well as other residents from the #Hotel Virreyes in Mexico City have been sequestered in their apartments by the staff of Plaza Corso with threats of violence. They have had no electricity or running water for the past 6 days. The have been warned by the lawyer that if they leave their apartment even to run an errand, they might not get back in. This has already happened to other residents. The Zedd family has been residing here 2 years, paying their rent regularly. This is their home as well as the other residents of the hotel. Everyone was given a 2 week notice to vacate the premises, which is not enough time for any family to find housing much less move. No one has any idea if Carlos Slim Helu, the owner, knows of this situation. This was his project for a housing community for artists. Or has money won over morals? Selina HR is a Colombian company that builds or transforms Hotels into Luxery Hotels, also involved are Michael Gross from Morgan Hotels and WeWorks, the company owned by Adam Neumann.

We can’t let these families get thrown out of their homes, threatened with violence and have their water and electricity shut off to fulfill the need of rich conglomerates who only care about making more money and catering to luxury.
