Sue Amendola, who passed away in 2017, was a big part of the heart and soul of the Red Hook Community for more than 70 years. Sue was an active supporter of many Red Hook groups, including VFW NY Post 5195, Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, and the Red Hook Civic Association to name a few.
We have many fond memories of Sue. One our fondest is the annual nativity scene she erected with her sister on the vacant lot beside her home as document here. https://www.dnainfo.com/new-york/20131208/red-hook/cat-nativity-annual-delight-for-neighbors-red-hook
The Red Hook Civic Association would like to honor her with the renaming of a portion of Van Brunt Street, between King and Sullivan Streets as Sue Amendola Way.
Sue made a huge difference in this community and is greatly missed. Help us honor her by signing this petition to be presented to Community Board.6 and Council Member Carlos Menchaca.
